4 months already! Finally 16 weeks.

Wow, can't believe I'm 16 weeks (as of yesterday). Almost halfway there! I was pretty sick on Wednesday - had to come home from work after only being there for 15 minutes. :( I didn't feel right, and it was kind of scaring me. I felt a bit light-headed, shaky, nauseated, and my stomach was hurting. I told the charge nurse how I was feeling and we decided I should go home. I felt so bad! I've never had to do that before but I was concerned about the baby. I went home and went to bed... kept waking up from the pain. I got up around 10:30am when the charge nurse called to see how I was doing. I thought I was doing ok until I got out of bed and the stomach pain was worse. The pain was coming in waves and when it hit it was pretty severe and accompanied by nausea. :( I didn't think it was the stomach flu because I wasn't vomiting, etc.. I called my doctor and they said, based on where the pain was located, it must be something GI. They told me gastroenteritis has been going around. I took some tums and felt a little better, but the pain flared up again later. It was so bad it would take my breath away. I almost went to urgent care! It was still pretty bad even until I went to bed that night. I felt a little better on Thursday, only having occasional pain and it didn't last as long. I'm just glad I'm feeling better and that baby is ok! I did sample some cooked chicken sushi at Kroger on Tuesday... it must have been contaminated or something. Note to self : no more food samples at the grocery store, especially something that has been prepared next to raw fish! I love sushi but who knows how cleanly they were. Ugh!

Anyway, I can't wait to make my appointment for the anatomy scan!! I have to wait until I'm 18 weeks. Due to my work schedule, I'd either have to go 2 days early (4/24) or wait until the following Wednesday! I'm so anxious to go. I can't wait to find out what we're having. I'm so excited! I think it makes it that much more real to me when it will no longer be an "it." :) And I can't wait to start seriously thinking about baby names. I'll be calling on Monday to make my appointment! :)

According to Babycenter.com:

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

The top of your uterus is about halfway between your pubic bone and your navel, and the round ligaments that support it are thickening and stretching as it grows. You're probably feeling a whole lot better as you settle into pregnancy, too. Less nausea, fewer mood swings, and "glowing" skin contribute to an overall sense of well-being.
Soon you'll experience one of the most wonderful moments of pregnancy — feeling your baby move. While some women notice "quickening" as early as 16 weeks, many don't feel their baby move until about 18 weeks or more. (And if this is your first baby, don't be too impatient — you may not be aware of your baby's movements until 20 weeks or so.) The earliest movements may feel like little flutters, gas bubbles, or even like popcorn popping. Over the following weeks they'll grow stronger and you'll be able to feel them much more frequently.

Baby is currently the size of an avocado:

I still don't know how I'm managing to hide an avocado-size baby! Still not showing much yet.
